Magical craft doesn’t have to involve the standard tools – cauldrons, crystal balls, wands – it can be however you express yourself, or however you feel a connection to your own power. For Diamond, she uses a range of techniques including colour, music, and decoration.

How much these things do for the magic is debatable, but they make her feel as though she is in control of herself and her skill. She dyes her own feathers and uses coloured glass beads to decorate herself, reattaching the feathers as part of her display. The beads make sounds when she beats her wings, and the sounds seem to help with her magic, especially her weather magic.

The tools can be nice starting points and sometimes grant a little safety, but we all find our own special way of doing things if we do them for long enough.
