Pocket guides (for mages, that is, I don’t have pockets) sure are handy for familiars. It saves me lugging a great big tome on my gathering trips through the forest. But honestly, it hasn’t done much to boost my confidence…

I need a mushroom. Red cap, white spots. There are several. One sort helps cure kelpie flu, the other two can be very deadly. You see my problem.

So… I’m thinking… that I find and take back all three, in their own bags… Then a smarty-smart pants mage can sort them out for me. Maybe I’ll take them to the author of this pocket guide and say, “here! You pick!”

I know, I know, I’m being petty. But really, given how dangerous these are, you’d think they’d be clear about the differences!
