Few mages use their magic for combat because of the stigma. Magic is a gift from Nature, many say, and should be treated with respect. But Nature can also be harsh when needed, and some like us believe that at times magic must be used for deeds some would consider violent.

We are bounty hunters, in pursuit of criminals both magical and not. The sort we hunt are dangerous, with cruel minds and terrible ways. I track them by scent, while my mage handles our defensive and offensive manoeuvres.

It’s sad that our kind are still needed at all, and sadder still that some mages consider our work as disrespectful or selfish, but I feel if Nature did not like our methods she would simply take the magic away, as easily as she gave it.
