To look through the inky waters deep is a task in itself, but some serpents see more than the present churning of the waves and twinkling shafts of light. In all kinds of water serpents a rare Seer might be born, gifted with a greater sight.
What they see is unclear, even to their own eyes – the past, the present, the future. Many futures. Many pasts. Discerning the truth is near impossible, and the purpose of these visions often unclear.
The selkie people of old spoke of the sea as a form of time itself, always shifting, never still. To swim in it and master it was to understand all of time, be it our own, or times of other worlds. But such a mastery was never achieved, and would likely only lead to sorrow.
